Thank you, LORD!

by Cindy on September 14, 2009

We have an appointment date!  October 5th at 11:00 in Kiev!  Woo-hoo!

Obviously we are thrilled, but not only for us, but also because this indicates that the SDA is not pushing the “pause button” on adoptions, for now.

The next few weeks will be a whirlwind as we make our travel arrangements, nail down details of kid coverage, and delegate our ministry responsibilities.   I’m sure I’ll get overwhelmed, stressed, etc., but for now I’m simply rejoicing.  Care to join me?

“How can I keep from singing Your praise
How can I ever say enough
How amazing is Your love
How can I keep from shouting Your name
I know I am loved by the King
And it makes my heart want to sing”

Amen to that!!! We heard yesterday from Andy Tyler, who is in Ukraine now (and who arranged for us to speak to our Sasha!!!:)) Andy indicated that things seem to be moving along with the SDA, so we had our fingers crossed for you. John and I are sharing your joy today, as well as the McEacherns ! We’re still finishing up our dossier re-do but God willing we will not be far behind you! Alycia and John Davies

Cindy,
Meant also to thank you for the thoughts in your earlier post, drawing the distinction between our call to pursue rather than a call to succeed. Indeed I know in my heart that this is what God has called me to do, but how often do I try to expand that call to pursue into what to me will be a successful outcome, i.e., the adoption of Sasha? But this may well not be God’s plan!! Yet in my efforts to be “successful” I push faith aside & drive toward the outcome I want including, like you, engaging in a tremendous amount of research to try to get some false sense of control. Thank you so much for these thoughts, which are so important for me to hear. I will be working on faith and my trust in God as well.

Cindy, I can’t wait to get back to Evergreen and rejoice over all the amazing blessings that God has brought this summer/fall! What sweet testimonies of faithfulness and provision God has brought to our congregation!

WOOOOOOOOOO!!!! We are shedding tears of joy over here for you!!!!!!

Cindy September 14, 2009 at 9:01 pm

Thank you, Alycia. Your words are an encouragement to me to do more than simply post logistical details. There is much at stake beyond what we can see with our eyes in this process of adoption! Emily, can’t wait to see you! And Sara, fellow pilgrim, I love you!

Oh so very exciting!! Congratulations! We will continue to follow your journey and pray for you and Katya that the Lord will bring her home quickly and knit you hearts together as a family. What a joy it is watch a child coming home.

I cannot even tell you how thankful I am for all your prayers and support! We are working on all our arrangements now and even finding out about friends who will be in Ukraine during the same time that we are there. :)

Jessie September 15, 2009 at 9:04 pm

Cindy this is great! How wonderfully exciting! Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help in the coming weeks. We’ll certainly continuing praying for a bump-free process and a speedy “observation” process, so you can bring her home sooner!

Cindy September 15, 2009 at 9:07 pm

Thanks, Jessie! I’m sure I’ll be getting out a list of help we’ll need to keep things flowing smoothly while we’re out of the country. You and Pippin are such an encouragement!
