… This has been one of Katya’s favorite phrases over the past few days – whether she’s talking about her new bicycle (Thanks, Mom!), her Princess Paradise, or rocks that she finds in our yard, meticulously washes, and carefully positions on her bookshelf. The adjustment is going surprisingly well and her English is exploding. It may be that we’re in “honeymoon phase,” but even so, we’ll take it as a season of grace from the Lord.
We cannot even begin to express how thankful we are to the multitude who have stood with us and continue to stand with us in this journey to welcome Katya into our life. I wish that I knew all the individuals who have supported us so that I could write you each a personal note. Meals, clothing, caring for the other children, helping with school, running errands, phone calls, emails, and so much more you have all poured out. And most of all, we are thankful for your prayers. This homecoming has been a work of God and you have partnered with us. Thank you!
Since we’ve been home, life has been sweetly full as I have enjoyed my husband and children, between the pleasures of drinking water straight from the tap, flushing toilet paper, and putting wet clothes into the dryer. I plan to post some pictures soon and have quite a few “untold stories” from the past several months to tell. However, since we’re no long “welcoming Katya,” I’m praying about the future of this blog. If you have thoughts, I’d love to hear them.
And now, I’m off to make hot chocolate for some wet children after I hide the dog food from my newest daughter who loves “training” Topsy and Tanner.

Praising God that another precious child is with her forever family! He is good… all the time!
So glad to hear things are going well! And you made we want hot chocolate, so I’m off to the kitchen!
Katya is a very pretty little girl and seems so full of life. I kow your family is going to be blessed in so many ways you didn’t even expect from having her in your family. May the Lord continue to bless your home.
Aww, keep blogging, you crazy mom, you. It’s like Cindy & Bill PLUS 7! (I mean, minus all of the weird drama, adultery, dysfunction and tension of that show. Aside from THAT, though–very similar
).
Sounds like life is already going good. Enjoy this honeymoom phase while you can.
Try an update when you can, love to watch Katya blossom as I know she will.
Best of luck from a FRUA Friend
I hope you keep blogging . . . your posts are worth reading . . . . your journey even at home with your family is worth reading, I believe.
Hi Cindy!!
Congratulations on your new little girl! Your entire family is so beautiful! One of my best friends lived in Ukraine a few years ago and taught children with Down’s Syndrome while she was there. It sounds like there is an incredible need for more loving families like yours. Wishing you a very happy Thanksgiving, and glad to see you are so happy!!!
Love,
Your cousin,
Ashley
What blessings you and Katya will have to give thanks for tomorrow. Have a wonderful day! And I vote for continuation of the blog as well, although I know it is a lot to ask from one whose life is already so busy!! But I have found your thoughts (and Bill’s) to be extremely inspirational. So perhaps a well-earned blog rest is in order, but it would be wonderful to share from time to time in Katya’s blossoming and to follow “the rest of the story”!
